As we take our seats for the Dion Lee Fall 2015 collection there is a buzz of excitement in the air. A camera flashes every few seconds, everyone is busy taking photographs, while they patiently wait for the show to begin. Anticipation builds as the lights dim and music plays, signalling that the show is about to begin. Australian designer Dion Lee is recognised for his unique take on the construction and engineering of a garment. He often tends to put more emphasis on the style and aesthetic of a piece rather than wearability, however for the Fall ‘15 collection he has struck the perfect balance between wearability and style.

The overall tone of the collection is certainly a formal one revealed through the inclusion of crisp shirts and evening wear. He also chose to include outerwear such as quilted down jackets as well as bomber jackets in satin and leather which add a tough and edgier feel to the overall mood. The collection begins with a creamy white colour palette, perfect for the winter months, that features crisp white shirts playing to the menswear trend, as well as beautiful sheer silk blouses. As the show progresses the colour palette shifts into teals, dark inky blues, and blacks. He has chosen to incorporate laser cut leather overlays and sliced cut outs which keep in sync with his unique construction of garments. Dion Lee’s Fall ’15 collection included several beautiful pieces which aimed to express a sense of sophistication and allure.
