If you are anything like me, you are probably fantasising about summer travel plans, and figuring out what to take with you on holiday! However, as I’ve realised it is equally as important to plan out what to take in your carry-on for when you are on the plane. Airplanes are not always the most comfortable places, but if you have the right essentials in your bag it will make your flight experience so much better!
Whats in My Carry-On...
Air travel can be especially harsh on the skin, and I find mine is always extremely dry after a flight. This is why I keep a small makeup pouch with a few hydrating products in my bag. One of my favourites is a rose water spray, one spritz of this instantly refreshes and adds life back into your skin. I also like to keep a roller ball perfume and lip balm with me. The temperatures on flights will vary so its always a good idea to have layers for when the AC is on full blast. I always like to carry a sweater or a scarf for when I’m feeling cold. This sweater from Uniqlo is a good neutral choice that can be worn with anything, and it is certainly comfortable. When I’m traveling on a long flight I always carry my noise cancelling headphones and an eye mask in case I want to sleep on the flight. Each month encompasses a completely new atmosphere, and with every month different inspirations and ideas flow in the back of my mind. For this month I’ve decided to visualise this process and share the different styles, motifs, and random obsessions that are currently drawing me in.
July. Right in the midst of summer, with visions of the ocean, travel plans, and summer fashion trends swirling through my head. Summer is a time to relax, rewind, and indulge in simple pleasures such as soaking in the Sun all day and eating delicious tropical fruits. The images above of lounging in pools and swimming in the ocean really appeal to me because they bring out my favourite thing about summer - being in the water! As soon as the weather will allow, I can always be found in a pool or at the beach for hours on end! Currently the carefree spirit of summer with its high temperatures, vibrant colours, and tropical motifs flows as an undercurrent in my mind. Another element I’ve been drawn to is the idea of travelling to new and exciting places. I am currently deciding what clothes to take with me on my trip to Italy later this month; and planning looks suitable for travel. At the moment the white colour trend for summer has been catching my eye, and I am loving it in casual flowy pieces, perfect for a vacation. If you want to see my summer travel pictures they will all be posted on my Instagram.
One trend that’s been a huge source of inspiration this month is tropical greenery and the banana leaf pattern. Living in the tropics this motif seems very natural to me and I am currently in love with the idea of vibrant greens and lush tropical plants and trees. The banana leaf pattern which I’ve been spotting everywhere lately is a beautiful play on this tropical trend. I think it works exceptionally well in the high waisted bikini above, and I would love to see it as printed pants or even as a blouse. In terms of beauty inspiration, lately I've been drawn to the fresh faced “no makeup” look. It really captures the relaxed and laid back essence of summer. All you need to do is lightly swipe a highlighter or bronzer on the high points of your face to achieve a natural Sun kissed look. This keeps it minimal while accentuating your natural features without any harsh contouring.
Watermelons, banana leafs, and the ocean… That just about sums up everything I've been loving for the month of July. I hope you are having a lovely summer!
