What to Wear on Holiday this Summer

Monday, July 04, 2016

Since we're in the midst of one of the busiest times to travel in the year, I wanted to create a wearable guide on what to wear on holiday this summer! So based on my favourite trends of the season here is what you should be packing in your suitcase!

Sheer Romance

This overly feminine trend will add a touch of airiness and refinement to any look. While there can be undertones of a subtle suggestiveness without going overboard, it adds the perfect touch of elegance! Sheer fabric is the perfect way to add effortless style while staying cool this summer.

Cold Shoulders

You simply can not walk into any clothing store without witnessing this popular trend (unless you currently live under a rock). The sought-after 80s trend is back in full force and I'm here to confirm you should be sporting it while on holiday! Bare shoulders are a great way to bring in a flirty element to your outfit without overdoing it. Just don't skimp on the sunblock if you know you're going to be outside, as it could lead to some pretty interesting tan lines!

Sparkling Night Out

I'm always in favour of adding a little sparkle to your wardrobe (and your life!), so why not try out this trend if you're planning a night out while on vacation! Adding some sequence or iridescence is a super easy way to glam up any outfit. Pair it with jeans and it will instantly elevate a more casual look into something special!

Summer Stripes

I feel like this graphic trend will forever be in style, and for good reason! For summer, designers certainly played on the nautical stripes with a bit of a twist. Multicolored stripes make the perfect beach dress and this is a great way to get in on the graphic sensation!

Lounge All Day

Givenchy certainly capitalized on this trend for their SS16 collection and I have to admit, I'm obsessed! Luxurious sleepwear as day wear is the perfect strategy to staying comfortable and relaxed while on vacation. The loose silky fabric adds a touch of luxury and style to your wardrobe while keeping you super comfortable when all you want to do is lounge around all day long.

Shirt Dress

The shirt dress is definitely a staple you should already have in your closet. You can style it in so many ways, making it a truly versatile piece! It's perfect for when you're traveling and want to create multiple outfits with what you have. Best of all the shirt dress is warm weather friendly and you won't be overheating if you find yourself outside for the majority of the day!

Slip Dress

Ahh the slip dress.. I don't know whats screams 90s fashion more than Kate Moss in her iconic slip dresses! I love the revival of this effortlessly sexy look as it's perfect for a transition piece from day to night when you have limited space in your suitcase! Just dress it down with a light jacket and sandals during the day, and switch into heels and a clutch for the night!
